Degree Information & Requirements
Applicants twenty-five years of age or older may enter a Bachelor degree program
with a minimum of two years of undergraduate credit (30 semester units) or equivalency
according to guidelines and standards of the U.S. department of education. It is
required that the applicant have completed two years of undergraduate work before
entering Alpha University, as the University does not generally offer lower division
courses.
Applicants entering the University with the required prerequisite will need to complete 60 units of credit, since 120 total semester units are required for graduation. Applicants enrolling with more than 120 semester units of acceptable transfer credit may be required to complete a minimum of 15 semester units of coursework through the University to earn a Bachelor degree. Applicants should contact the university office for specific course prerequisites.
MASTER DEGREE PROGRAM
Applicants may enter a Master's degree program with a Bachelor degree or equivalent. The Bachelor degree equivalency may be recognized if the applicant has the equivalent of four years or more of acceptable undergraduate college work through transcripts. An applicant may request credit for prior learning experience for up to fifteen (15) credits for post baccalaureate work. The minimum requirement of 45 units of graduate credit with 15 units of course work at Alpha University may be waived at the sole discretion of the Academic Dean.
To graduate a student must:
1. Complete a minimum of 45 semester units of acceptable graduate credits.
2. Complete a minimum of 15 graduate credits of course work at Alpha University.
3. Achieve a grade of B (3.0) or better in all graduate courses counted toward the degree and maintain an overall B (3.0) grade point average.
4. Complete a satisfactory program of study as determined by the Academic Dean.
5. Submit a thesis or portfolio of competence, which is acceptable to the University (up to 6 units of graduate credit may be given for thesis or portfolio of competence).
BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAM
To graduate a student must :
1. Complete a minimum of 120 semester units of acceptable credits, at least 60 of which must be upper division.
2. Complete a minimum of 15 semester units with Alpha University.
3. Complete an organized degree curriculum or an approved program of independent study of at least 30 upper division units.
4. Attain a grade point average of C (2.0) or higher.
5. Satisfy the general education requirements described in the course catalogue.
DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAM
The Master degree or equivalent is necessary for entrance into a doctoral program. Prior learning credits may be accepted for the doctoral program if they were acquired after the Master degree or its equivalent was obtained. A minimum of one hundred (100) units of acceptable graduate credit is required for the Doctor of Hypnotherapy degree. At least 10 units comprised of an acceptable dissertation or internship must be completed.
To graduate a student must:
1. Have completed a minimum of 100 semester units of acceptable graduate credits.
2. Complete at Alpha University a minimum of 15 units of acceptable graduate credit other than research for the dissertation.
3. Achieve a grade of B (3.0) in all graduate courses counted toward the degree and maintain an overall B (3.0) grade point average.
4. Complete a satisfactory program of study as determined by the Academic Dean.
5. Submit a dissertation or portfolio of competence, which is acceptable to the University (up to 10 units of graduate credit may be given for dissertation or portfolio of competence) or complete an internship (10 units of credit).
